EKAMRA WALKS

EKAMRA WALKS
Ekamra Walks is a flagship initiative by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Odisha Tourism designed to showcase the city’s rich cultural heritage, architecture, cuisine, and biodiversity. Conducted across multiple curated trails, it offers immersive experiences that connect visitors to the historical, natural, and artistic essence of Bhubaneswar—India’s only UNESCO-recognized Smart City with an ancient soul.
The program encourages experiential tourism by engaging travelers in guided walks, local interactions, and hands-on storytelling. Each trail—spanning from temple architecture to native cuisine and urban biodiversity—celebrates the diverse identity of Bhubaneswar while promoting sustainable community-based tourism.
ABOUT
From January to March 2023, I was associated with Muttpackers as part of the operational and experience team for Ekamra Walks, managing the execution of 8 major trails out of 10 organized by the Bhubaneswar Development Authority. My role focused on ensuring seamless coordination, guest engagement, and high-quality on-ground experience across Nature, Food, and Museum Trails.
I oversaw end-to-end logistics, managed group flow, interacted with diverse guests, and ensured every trail reflected its intended cultural or natural theme. Beyond operations, I also contributed to content creation, storytelling, and visual documentation to promote the trails online. Handling both hospitality and situational challenges in real time allowed me to refine my skills in experience design, communication, and tourism management.

Ekamra Walks – Heritage, Food & Nature Trails
Description
Ekamra Walks offered ten unique thematic experiences—of which I successfully coordinated eight, including two Nature Trails (Birds and Butterflies, Secrets of Nature), three Food Trails (Traditional Food and Folklore, Odisha on Plate, Tiffin Tales of Bhubaneswar), and three Museum Trails (Journey to Native Culture, Reimagining Universe, Culture, Craft & Conversations). Each trail had its own logistical, interpretive, and guest engagement challenges that demanded adaptability and precision.
I was responsible for aligning trail execution with BDA’s tourism standards, coordinating with local guides, and ensuring visitors had enriching, memorable experiences. My role also extended to creating visual content and managing guest relations—especially handling diverse audiences with varying expectations. This project strengthened my understanding of urban heritage tourism, experience management, and the integration of storytelling with destination branding.
